It seems that there are two basic groups emerging since the last Fete En Blanc (White Party- meaning you wear & decorate in all white) those who think the idea is pretentious and snobby or exclusionary, and those who think it looks awesome and want to be on "the list". My reasons for attending were simple:
I blog for Things To Do Lancaster and so I hear about these types of events and this one has been on my radar since last year. I had some friends who were going and urged me to join their planned fun, and I had a white dress and the evening free. I've also got an affinity for all things French, a love for our emerging social community, and the nagging feeling that Sean P. Diddy Combs isn't likely to invite me to his Hamptons White Party this year (womp) and this may be my one shot to play out the theme.
If you think the event looks like a good time, let me tell you that it really was! A group of friends dining al' fresco and getting to chat with some members of the Lancaster community, bump into old high school chums, favorite local artists and my daughters piano teacher, and then dance to great music till the stars come out is my idea of a good time! The people-watching alone was worth the trip! My understanding is that all Lancaster County residents are welcome, and if you don't live around here, find some friends who will help you organize one in your own hometown! All you have to do to receive an invite is to request one through the Facebook page and then respond promptly once the date is released to ensure your spot. The only thing missing this year was YOU, fellow Lancastrian, hope to see you next time!
